Death Sentence (spoilers)

I'm sorry that lately I haven't really been ranting and really just doing some arse-licking instead. But as I'm now learning rant reviews are actually surprisingly hard. It's easy to rant on a movie or game or whatever if it's 'fucking awesome' and the same applies to movies or games or whatever that are 'fucking fail'. But any movie or game or whatever that is simply good or bad falls into a blanket mediocrity pile that makes it very hard for me to rant on.

This movie is a very generic revenge movie (but that's okay because it's made up of all the parts we love) and it's now I am realising revenge movies are my favourite kind of movies. The cheesy music, the wronged men, the heart string tugs, the "fuck yeah!" moments. It's just fantastic entertainment.

I hate modern society, where you can't enjoy a cigarette in public without being dubbed the fucking antichrist because you refuse to move when a nonsmoker comes and sits down after you on the same bench and moans about it. Where 'reform' is classed as 'punishment' and anything more is 'inhumane'. Where prisoners have to be kept healthy and entertained, where they have steaks, PS3's, an education and the freedom to walk around the prison all fucking day. Where smacking your child is the same as ejecting yourself from social circles because hitting naughty children is so fucking 'wrong'. Where the 'justice' system only cares about 'conviction rates'. A society so wrapped up in 'political correctness' they seem to miss just how much the average guy suffers every day. Revenge movies strike right at the heart of that angst.

So yeah, it's another positive review, I do hope you enjoy and I'll try and rant a little harder this time.

Okay, the contents of the story are a generic affair. The frankly hideous Kevin Bacon plays a rather average man in society (his house is fucking huge and his office is made of glass but since American's like to have things so grand all the fucking time I'm not sure if he is just an average joe or not but hey, let's assume) who is wronged by the scum of society (oh how unpc of me!), and all the justice system cares about is a conviction rate and telling Kevin just how bad revenge is. Oh you gotta love our modern society.

And although the movie is in places is rather slow, there really isn't much else to complain about. I mean it's cheesy and generic and the acting dips in places and a part of me thought that the moment Kevin and what remains of his family are all apparently dead on the carpet of the living room as the camera circles them like vultures would have made for a far more interesting ending. The violence that comes after it is more than worth a much cheesier and more generic ending.

So should you watch this? If you hate modern society, if you like to shout "fuck yeah!", if you like some much needed justice being delivered for once, or if you just like revenge movies you'll find hell of a lot to love here. If you're one of those politically correct cunts, you'll probably turn your snotty fucking nose up at how it lacks any 'real morals'. But well, you can fuck off.

Think about it!
