Alice.

Oh yeah, then there is also Alice, a two parter made by 'SyFy' making this TV special more like a long movie, so it's my excuse as to why I'm reviewing this even though I said no TV. I'm also reviewing it because it's been so long since I've got so emotionally involved with characters that I scream, "KISS HER YOU CUNT!" at the screen like they can hear me. Enjoy!

Currently I'm nearing the end of the first season of The Mentalist (I love the chemistry between the main actors and the cases are normally pretty original) and nearing the end of the only season (probably) of Defying Gravity (which everyone should watch). I'm thinking of reviewing them at some point, even though I said no TV reviews but I love them so much and I don't think they have as large a fanbase as they rightly deserve. Especially with shit like Heroes and Lost and their huge fanbases.

Been a little while folks, I know. But I haven't really been watching movies, I've been watching TV show boxsets. Plus thanks to the time of year and the weather postage has become kind of erratic, but I have received my next movie from LOVEFiLM today and I'll probably watch it within the next couple of days. To give you a hint, it's a revenge movie with a female lead. Should be interesting, I hope.

Alice is the reimagining of 'Alice in Wonderland' by SyFy who also reimagined 'The Wizard of Oz' which I have still waiting for me to watch it. I don't really remember much about this story, except that Disney version was one of the most unsettling movies I saw during my childhood. I presume the original Alice never taught karate and I doubt it had guns and a story of the people of Wonderland getting emotional kicks on liquid versions of our emotions drained from our bodies so they'd ignore just how shit the Queen was. There are also great versions of old characters like an assassin with a robotic bunny head who happens to be undead playing the March Hare role.  Wonderland is imagined as a decaying urban landscape built into the sky surrounded by water. And the queen and the king live in a casino that looks like it is made of cards staffed by 'suits' people literarily in suits made to look like cards and named after the card on their suit.  The imagination placed into this really does deserve a mention, since it was insanely awesome and creative and it's nice that this comes without being horribly unsettling like the Disney version was.

And it was also kind of slow, the effects were all over the place but (there is always a but) the performance from an actor I personally dislike, Andrew Lee Potts, was such a brilliant performance as Hatter that he made the whole show worth watching for me, which I think is a bloody impressive thing to do, personally. I have a new found respect for this guy, I must admit. You just want him to win, you don't want to see him hurt and you want him to get Alice no matter how bitchy and ugly she maybe. Plus this version of the Hatter looks like a seventies trendyboy and can fight like a flippin' ninja!

Sorry this show was so short, there just really wasn't much to talk about. Should you watch it? Well, no not really. You could just watch clips of Hatter on youtube and save yourself watching all the shit around Pott's performance.

Think about it!
