Movie Marathon 2.

I'm no longer going to place '(spoiler)' in the titles of my reviews anymore, people will just have to face up to the fact that anything key to a movie, even if it gives away the plot, needs to be addressed to properly review the movie. I mean you don't moan when the whole narrative of a movie is squashed into a trailer, I mean look at the Percy Jackson trailers, they were pretty much just 3 minutes of spoilers.

And yes, back we go to movie marathon time, this time however it's only two films, enjoy!

First up is 'The Fall' a film I now name 'the best movie I've ever seen' 'probably one of the best movies ever made' and 'my favourite movie'. This movie makes Avatar's escapism seem like child's play this is true art, true perfection. I've never seen the film medium used so perfectly before, brilliant, just brilliant.

The Fall has a very complicated narrative and at points it's more than likely you'll have no fucking clue what is going on luckily however, a simple narrative is laid over the top, so the simpleton film viewers will have a lot of fun and won't be confused, but those film buffs or film educated out there will probably be often confused as to the point of the imagery shown to us but in short this film is about a story of five warriors brought together to fight a common enemy, the power a story can have and the power the author has over a story and this is shown through film and through film techniques done so perfectly it's actually slightly insane, I don't think you can really get more escapism than you do in this two hour long masterpiece.

Well you know, I want people to see this movie so badly, to enjoy the fantastic experience this little known movie provides that I feel almost wrong talking about it and giving away some of the juiciness you could enjoy for yourselves, so don't think this short review is short because I'm lazy, it's short because you need to get off your arse, stop reading this and go watch this fucking movie!

The second movie I watched is the animated feature 'Justice league: Crisis on Two Earths' and it's kinda shitty really, but as a cartoon (in terms of animation and content etc) it's bloody fantastic. Is that an excuse for something so poorly written? Well, not for me.

Ultimately what JLCOTE (like hell am I writing the title of this movie in full again) is is one long plothole but the story, as badly written as it is, is about an Earth parallel to the one the DC universe is set in. This Earth is similar to ours except for the roles of our heroes, because on this Earth our heroes are villains, with slightly different names and appearances (except Lex who doesn't change at all, for some reason).

And yeah, the voice acting is awful and I could list as many plotholes as there are perfections in the pre mentioned 'The Fall', so yeah it'd be a fucking long list. Just know, if you were coming to this in hope of a great set of voice acting and a brilliant story, you are looking in the wrong place, if you came for great fights and animation, then you're at the right place. And at the end of the day it's a fucking cartoon, you should watch it for the animation not for the story, if you want a good story read a fucking book you lazy sod.

The art is heavily stylised here, most of the designs of even our favourite heroes are slightly different, for whatever reason and with what seems like a whole new cast of voice actors they almost feel like different characters, this movie just doesn't seem to capture the heroes properly. The super villain variations however are bloody brilliant but they made some annoying changes from the comic like Johnny Quick for example used some kind of drug to get super speed and was addicted to it, in this he's just like a stereotyped British Flash, how unsurprising.

The fights too are absolutely incredible for an American cartoon (not an excuse, I know), when it opens with blood trickling from the Jester's lips, to have him stabbed by a sword and it twisted in his chest to him then blowing himself up to take down his opponents (who actually die) I felt my jaw drop a little.

Interestingly too this movie is chockfull of adult humour, adult themes and innuendoes, even though the story has been simplified and censored from the comic (as if implying they were aiming for a younger audience) it then confuses me as to why they still have the blood and the 'extreme' (for an American cartoon at least) violence or the swearing or whatever. None of this stuff bothers me, but these kinds of things in American kids cartoons are normally burned on the stake as Christians cry "BLACK MAGIC; BURN THE WITCH!". Well, whatever.

But should you watch it? Yeah, even with it's shit writing it's a fun way to spend an hour and a half. The animation is brilliant and American animation is generally more consistent than Japanese animation, so expect some great looking fights and a lot of fun!

Think About It!
